Everyday health, the Japanese way

News

Message

Yojo Notes is written by a small group of writers in Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Kitakyushu. We cover the everyday side of health: a stomach that complains after dinner, shoulders that set like concrete by Thursday, a bottle of lavender oil and the question of how many drops.

We take ordinary medicine as the starting point and look at the Japanese habits around it with curiosity: kampo, warm baths, seasonal food, sitting on the floor. Where something is not proven, we say so, and every article tells you when it is time to see a doctor.

* Yojo is an old Japanese word for looking after your health day by day. Its cousin, mibyo, describes feeling unwell before any test shows a problem: a state worth noticing early, not a diagnosis.
